Tesla’s Gigafactory Berlin represents a significant milestone in the European infrastructure landscape, aiming to significantly scale up electric vehicle (EV) production in Europe. Situated in Grünheide, near Berlin, this expansive facility is designed to produce batteries, battery packs and powertrains for Tesla’s electric vehicles, aiming for a minimal environmental footprint. Our involvement in this groundbreaking project was to consult with a sustainability subcontractor on navigating complex compliance regulations. This ensured that the construction and operation phases of the Gigafactory were aligned with the European Union’s stringent environmental standards, contributing to the client’s sustainability goals while facilitating smooth progress towards the Gigafactory’s ambition production targets.
The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) is a monumental infrastructure project on the Blue Nile River in Ethiopia, aimed at generating over 6,000 megawatts of hydroelectric power. With significant construction milestones completed within the last few years, GERD is poised to become Africa’s largest hydroelectric power plant, providing electricity to millions and fostering regional economic growth. Oreco Consulting assisted with the strategic planning of sustainability practices, particularly in selecting and using environmentally friendly materials. Our firm was instrumental in the Brenner Base Tunnel project, a pioneering initiative in European transportation. This tunnel, set to become one of the longest underground railway connections in the world, spans over 55 kilometres and aims to enhance rail connectivity between Italy and Austria. Our role was to assist a supplier with the strategic planning of sustainability practices, particularly in selecting and using materials. This ensured that the project’s execution not only adhered to sustainability practices but also reduce the environmental impact of construction activities, paving the way for a more sustainable transportation infrastructure that aligns with European green transition goals.
The Los Angeles Metro Regional Connector, inaugurated in 2023, is a transformative transportation project that links multiple metro lines through downtown Los Angeles, significantly improving network efficiency and passenger convenience. Spanning approximately 1.9 miles, the connector facilitates seamless travel across different parts of the city, reducing travel times and enhancing commuter experience.
