Our engagement in infrastructure and transportation reflects our dedication to achieving client success and contributing to the sustainable development of these industries. From cutting-edge infrastructure projects like Gigafactory Berlin to monumental transportation endeavours like the Brenner Base Tunnel, our projects are a testament to our commitment to excellence and our vision for a future-forward Europe.
The infrastructure sector is on the cusp of a revolutionary shift driven by the urgent need for sustainable development and intelligent technology integration. We view this industry through the lens of opportunity – for innovation, for environmental stewardship and for creating lasting societal benefits. Our consultancy is deeply invested in understanding and contributing to the shaping of infrastructure projects that not only meet today’s needs but are resilient and adaptable to tomorrow’s challenges. We believe that the future of infrastructure lies in harmonising economic growth with ecological balance and leveraging advances in technology to build more sustainable and efficient systems.
Tesla’s Gigafactory Berlin represents a significant milestone in the European infrastructure landscape, aiming to significantly scale up electric vehicle (EV) production in Europe. Situated in Grünheide, near Berlin, this expansive facility is designed to produce batteries, battery packs and powertrains for Tesla’s electric vehicles, aiming for a minimal environmental footprint. Our involvement in this groundbreaking project was to consult with a sustainability subcontractor on navigating complex compliance regulations. This ensured that the construction and operation phases of the Gigafactory were aligned with the European Union’s stringent environmental standards, contributing to the client’s sustainability goals while facilitating smooth progress towards the Gigafactory’s ambition production targets.
The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) is a monumental infrastructure project on the Blue Nile River in Ethiopia, aimed at generating over 6,000 megawatts of hydroelectric power. With significant construction milestones completed within the last few years, GERD is poised to become Africa’s largest hydroelectric power plant, providing electricity to millions and fostering regional economic growth. Oreco Consulting assisted with the strategic planning of sustainability practices, particularly in selecting and using environmentally friendly materials. By ensuring adherence to best sustainability practices, we helped minimize the environmental impact of the dam’s construction and operation, aligning the project with Ethiopia’s renewable energy goals and contributing to the broader objectives of regional development and ecological preservation.
The transportation sector in Europe is navigating a transformative era, with sustainability, digitalisation and interconnectivity at its core. Our perspective on this industry is framed by the potential to redefine mobility in ways that reduce environmental impact, enhance efficiency and improve user experience. We are enthusiastic proponents of advancing transportation systems that are both more eco-friendly, accessible and reliable, contributing to the reduction of Europe’s carbon footprint and fostering a more connected continent. Our consultancy’s role is to aid in the transition towards a more sustainable, integrated and forward-thinking transportation landscape, anticipating future trends and challenges while grounding our strategies in practical, actional solutions.
Our firm was instrumental in the Brenner Base Tunnel project, a pioneering initiative in European transportation. This tunnel, set to become one of the longest underground railway connections in the world, spans over 55 kilometres and aims to enhance rail connectivity between Italy and Austria. Our role was to assist a supplier with the strategic planning of sustainability practices, particularly in selecting and using materials. This ensured that the project’s execution not only adhered to sustainability practices but also reduce the environmental impact of construction activities, paving the way for a more sustainable transportation infrastructure that aligns with European green transition goals.
The Los Angeles Metro Regional Connector, inaugurated in 2023, is a transformative transportation project that links multiple metro lines through downtown Los Angeles, significantly improving network efficiency and passenger convenience. Spanning approximately 1.9 miles, the connector facilitates seamless travel across different parts of the city, reducing travel times and enhancing commuter experience. Oreco Consulting was pivotal in collaborating with subcontractors to implement sustainable construction practices and innovative engineering solutions. By optimizing material selection and construction methodologies, we helped minimize the project’s environmental footprint, thereby contributing to a more connected and eco-friendly urban transportation system.
